Miami outfits

I love dressing up when we’re in Miami, because I feel like I can play around more. I can pretty much wear whatever I feel like, and not have to worry about getting cold..! It’s so much more fun, and not to mention easier, to just throw on a dress, or a pair of pants and a top and go..!

We do a LOT of walking around when we’re there, so I tend to wear flats a lot. But if we’re going to dinner or a movie or something special, I like to wear heels :)

These are some of my outfits from our trip in February:

Miami life

My husband and I have a lot in common, and one of those things is that we both love Miami. Especially South Beach. We got married there last year, and this year, we went there for our one year anniversary ♥

There are certain things we always do when we’re there, like visit our family in West Palm Beach. This time we went to the fair with them, and as always, to The Cheesecake Factory!

We we’re there for almost three weeks this time. We had a couple of rainy and chilly days, but most days were sunny and warm, so I got to wear every single dress I had brought! We also went running and walking along the beach a lot.

We actually did  a couple of things we’ve never done before, like rent segways and bicycles. We’re definitely going to rent bicycles again, that was a lot of fun! A great way to get around South Beach!

Tuesday tunes

In honor of Justin’s new album The 20/20 Experience now being available for pre-order and free streaming on iTunes, his new song Mirrors is my theme song this week. And not to mention, the fact that I’m going to his concert with Jay-Z in Miami August 16th!! I cannot wait :D

Wedding inspo

If you’re getting married, and need some inspiration, you HAVE to check out his blog called stylemepretty.com, they constantly update beautiful photos from weddings all over the world, and there’s tons of inspiration on everything from decorations to attire.

I’ve spent so many hours there before our wedding in Miami, and it helped me out so much. I’m still checking in there constantly for inspiration to the wedding celebration we’re having this summer. I even think I’m gonna keep reading it when I’m done with the wedding, cause there’s just so many beautiful pictures, and dresses, and locations and and and…!!

It really is the ultimate wedding blog!

Featured on Pretty Chic wedding blog!

My friend Anne-Margrethe, who took the amazing pictures at our wedding, told me today that the wedding had been featured on prettychicblog.dk! They had sent me an e-mail asking if I could write a little something about how we planned a wedding in Miami from so far away, and where my dress and Endre’s attire was from. They even have some new pictures in there, that even I hadn’t seen before!

OUTFIT – Chillaxing

Pants – LF store (Miami) // Tee – JLH // Sneakers – Nike (Air Jordans) // Hoodie – Reigning Champ // Purse – Juicy

The sun was in my eyes, so I stole my hubbies cap! Also, my dark roots are getting bad, so it was nice to hide it under there. I’m going to my friend Marhu to fix it tomorrow. It wasn’t till I went blonde that I realized how fast my hair actually grows..! Which should make me happy, but considering how expensive coloring is, I’m not too thrilled about it..!

Endre and I just had our second barbeque! Two days in a row! We made home-mode burgers, and it was delicious. So he’s passed out on the couch right now, while I’m about to get to work on the wedding invitations.

Planning the future

What will I be when I grow up? After” high school” I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to be doing for the rest of my life, so I didn’t really see the point of going to “college” and waste money and time on studying to be something I wasn’t sure that I wanted to be. So I started working. I worked in a kindergarden for two years, but when my dancing jobs started picking up, I needed something part-time that would be more flexible. So I started my job at the visa centre. And I really like it there. It’s flexible, it pays well, and the people are very nice. And I’ve been content for the past few years, working there, and doing some dancing gigs on the side, and haven’t had any urge what so ever to go back to school. Simply because I haven’t had any idea what I’ve wanted to do.

But lately, that’s started to change. Endre mentioned to me a while ago that he was thinking about going to school to get a degree in webdesign. And it got me thinking about school too. We want to go to school somewhere else though, where it’s warm. But it’s not that easy to find a school that suits both of us that we’ll be able to get funds for. I’m still not one hundred percent sure of what I want to study, but I’ve started to narrow it down at least. I’m thinking something in the lines of art director, pr, media or business.. I still have a lot of research to do before I decide, but I’m actually getting pretty excited about it..!

Endre and I are gonna be looking in to some alternatives this week, cause deadlines to apply are approaching. So who knows, maybe we’ll be starting school this fall!

What ever we end up doing, we’re doing it together

Can’t you just picture us living and going to school in Miami? I can!

Saying yes to the dress!

I knew I wanted to find my dress in Florida, mostly because of the prices, but also because the selection is better, and since we were gonna get married there I wouldn’t have to drag it all the way from Norway.

So when Endre and I were there during the summer last year to look at locations, I took a few trips to bridal stores to try on dresses. No, Endre didn’t come with me, I went with my mom’s cousin.

So first we went to David’s Bridal, and Alfred Angelo. I tried on many pretty dresses, and there was a couple that I really considered. Like these:

But even though I thought they were really pretty, none of them gave me that “this is the one” feeling. So I decided to keep looking. But just a couple of days before we were headed back home, we had just found our wedding location, when one of the ladies who worked there asked me if I had been to Miracle Mile in Coral Gables yet. I hadn’t even heard of it before, but she told me that there was an entire street of bridal stores. It was about 3 pm already, and she said that they closed at 6. We didn’t have any specific plans for the rest of the day, so we just thought, what the hell, let’s check it out. So we got in a cab an went straight there. The first bridal store we got to was called Alegria’s Brides. I went in and tried on a few dresses, while Endre waited outside, and there was two dresses that I fell in love with. But this was just the first store I’d been in, so I thought that I couldn’t buy a dress without having looked in any of the other stores. So we went to a few more, and I tried on loads of dresses. I even went back to a David’s Bridal and tried the Vera Wang dress one more time, but the dresses at the first store kept coming to mind. So at 6 pm I ran back to the first store. And even though they had just closed, they opened the doors for me and let me try the dresses on one more time. I was kinda torn between the two, but when the lady helping me dimmed the lights in the fitting room, there was no doubt in my mind, I had found the dress!

So I paid for it, and had them measure me so they could order the dress in my size. Then in November I went back with my mom to have my first fitting, and as it turns out, I had lost a little weight..!

But the seamtress worked her magic, and just a few days later I had my second fitting, and it fit perfectly!

I left the dress in the store, so I could just pick it up there before the wedding in february, and luckily, I didn’t loose or gain any weight in the meantime.

It was difficult to make such a big decision without asking Endre for his opinion, but he loved the dress! It was perfect for our wedding day, because I was able to dance around, walk in the sand, and it wasn’t heavy or sliding down. It stayed in place the entire day. The dress is Private Label By G STYLE 1431.

The best thing is, I get to wear it again! We are having a party here in Norway, to celebrate, and we’re gonna recreate as much as possible from the wedding so that those who couldn’t come to Miami get a taste of what it was like. Hopefully it’ll still be intact after having been to the cleaners..
