Magic anniversary

Endre and I will take any reason to have some fun together, and yesterday was our 6 months wedding anniversary. I don’t know if other people celebrate that at all, but we sure did!

First, I kicked Endre’s ass in bowling! He won the last time we played, so it felt good to beat him this time. I actually managed quite a few strikes, the first one I got was only on my second throw..!

After bowling we grabbed a little something to eat before we headed to the movies. Endre said I could choose the movie, so..

Haha, yes, we saw Magic Mike! There was a lot of those “sink in to my chair”-moments, but overall it was actually a funny and entertaining movie.

Reboot

Ok, so now that the wedding is over, it’s time to reboot this blog!

I have spent all my time these last few months either working to save up money for the wedding, or planning and getting stuff ready for the wedding, so there hasn’t been much time for anything else..

But, the wedding is over, so it’s time to get back to a “normal” life now. And that includes, blogging! :D

My little baby had to go to the vet the other day, cause we noticed there was something wrong with his eye. Turns out he has an eye infection, so we have to give him eye drops four times a day. And a lot of love, off course ♥

Endre and I have had the weekend off together, that almost never happens..! So today we’re going to the movies together to see Snow White and the Huntsman. Will let you know what I think.

Love is sweet

I LOVE these snacks/candy tables that some people choose to have at their reception, and I’m currently shopping for cute jars and stuff so I can make one for our wedding party next month. I’m thinking I could fill them with pink and white candy, like marengs, marshmallows, bonbons, lollipops, and swedish “bilar”! It’s gonna be soooo sweet ;D

YUM!

Wedding inspo

If you’re getting married, and need some inspiration, you HAVE to check out his blog called stylemepretty.com, they constantly update beautiful photos from weddings all over the world, and there’s tons of inspiration on everything from decorations to attire.

I’ve spent so many hours there before our wedding in Miami, and it helped me out so much. I’m still checking in there constantly for inspiration to the wedding celebration we’re having this summer. I even think I’m gonna keep reading it when I’m done with the wedding, cause there’s just so many beautiful pictures, and dresses, and locations and and and…!!

It really is the ultimate wedding blog!

Featured on Pretty Chic wedding blog!

My friend Anne-Margrethe, who took the amazing pictures at our wedding, told me today that the wedding had been featured on prettychicblog.dk! They had sent me an e-mail asking if I could write a little something about how we planned a wedding in Miami from so far away, and where my dress and Endre’s attire was from. They even have some new pictures in there, that even I hadn’t seen before!

Hair and make-up

It was actually my bridesmaid, and one of my best friends, who did my hair and make-up on my wedding day. She is a professional hair dresser and make-up artist, and I’m so glad she agreed to help me, even though I know she was really nervous about it. It’s good to get help from someone who knows you and really cares about you, because it’s important to them to make it the best day of your life, so you know they’ll give it their best. And Marhu certainly did. She’s always a perfectionist, but I know she really put her heart into making everything as perfect as possible for my special day.

For the first-look and the photo shoot on the beach, she curled my hair, and pinned one side up with a crystal hair comb. I wanted it to be laid back and casual, but pretty. So we went for a long, wavy, beachy look.

Then before the ceremony, she gave me a half updo, with the headband my mom had given me, to make a little more formal and elegant.

We had tried out both hair-do’s and make-up before the big day off course, but she pretty much nailed what I wanted right away. That’s one of the benefits of working with someone who knows you ♥

In addition to working freelance, Marhu currently works at Studio M in Sandvika, and Model Day Studio in Oslo. If you want to look your best on your wedding day, you should get Marhu to do your hair and make-up!

Saying yes to the dress!

I knew I wanted to find my dress in Florida, mostly because of the prices, but also because the selection is better, and since we were gonna get married there I wouldn’t have to drag it all the way from Norway.

So when Endre and I were there during the summer last year to look at locations, I took a few trips to bridal stores to try on dresses. No, Endre didn’t come with me, I went with my mom’s cousin.

So first we went to David’s Bridal, and Alfred Angelo. I tried on many pretty dresses, and there was a couple that I really considered. Like these:

But even though I thought they were really pretty, none of them gave me that “this is the one” feeling. So I decided to keep looking. But just a couple of days before we were headed back home, we had just found our wedding location, when one of the ladies who worked there asked me if I had been to Miracle Mile in Coral Gables yet. I hadn’t even heard of it before, but she told me that there was an entire street of bridal stores. It was about 3 pm already, and she said that they closed at 6. We didn’t have any specific plans for the rest of the day, so we just thought, what the hell, let’s check it out. So we got in a cab an went straight there. The first bridal store we got to was called Alegria’s Brides. I went in and tried on a few dresses, while Endre waited outside, and there was two dresses that I fell in love with. But this was just the first store I’d been in, so I thought that I couldn’t buy a dress without having looked in any of the other stores. So we went to a few more, and I tried on loads of dresses. I even went back to a David’s Bridal and tried the Vera Wang dress one more time, but the dresses at the first store kept coming to mind. So at 6 pm I ran back to the first store. And even though they had just closed, they opened the doors for me and let me try the dresses on one more time. I was kinda torn between the two, but when the lady helping me dimmed the lights in the fitting room, there was no doubt in my mind, I had found the dress!

So I paid for it, and had them measure me so they could order the dress in my size. Then in November I went back with my mom to have my first fitting, and as it turns out, I had lost a little weight..!

But the seamtress worked her magic, and just a few days later I had my second fitting, and it fit perfectly!

I left the dress in the store, so I could just pick it up there before the wedding in february, and luckily, I didn’t loose or gain any weight in the meantime.

It was difficult to make such a big decision without asking Endre for his opinion, but he loved the dress! It was perfect for our wedding day, because I was able to dance around, walk in the sand, and it wasn’t heavy or sliding down. It stayed in place the entire day. The dress is Private Label By G STYLE 1431.

The best thing is, I get to wear it again! We are having a party here in Norway, to celebrate, and we’re gonna recreate as much as possible from the wedding so that those who couldn’t come to Miami get a taste of what it was like. Hopefully it’ll still be intact after having been to the cleaners..

My hair extensions

I decided to get hair extensions before our wedding. I have your typical Scaninavian hair, which is thin, flat and lifeless. And I wanted my hair to look long, curly and beautiful on my wedding day, so I went to Adam & Eva at Arkaden in Oslo and asked for Hair Talk, which I have read about and heard was good. They told me they had stopped using that particular brand because they got a lot of complaints from customers. But they had a different brand that had the same kind of hair and the same kind of tape-system.

It took close to two hours, and was pain free! And the best thing about this kind of hair extensions is that I can keep using it for about a year with takedown and tightening procedures..! I have already tightened them ones, after about two months. Didn’t take more than a couple of hours, and didn’t damage my own hair at all!

The price varies, depending on how much hair you’re gonna need, and how long it’s gonna take, where you do it, what brand it is and so on. But ask your hairdresser, they’ll know ;)

And you can off course style it just like you would with your natural hair.

Our honeymoon!

Even though we got married in Miami, we still felt that we needed a mini-honeymoon to just get away and be just the two of us for a few days. And since the Bahamas is so close to Miami, we decided to go to Atlantis! It’s a resort on the island of Nassau, and we stayed there for four nights. We flew with Bahamas Air, and had a limo pick us up at the airport and take us to the hotel. Gotta travel comfortably on your honeymoon, right?

We stayed at the Coral Towers, and the view from our balcony was just breathtaking!

Even though the weather wasn’t always perfect, we had a lot of fun. We tried out all the slides, looked at sharks, had a shallow water encounter with dolphins..

…walked on the beach, enjoyed frozen drinks and ate a lot of amazing food! Our absolute favorite was the wood fired black cod with misu at Nobu. If you’re ever there, you HAVE to try it. It was out of this world, definitely one the best things I have ever tasted in my life! My mouth is watering just thinking about it..

We didn’t go off the resort, so we didn’t get to see much of the rest of the island, other than what we saw out the windows to and from the airport, and what we saw wasn’t too impressive.. But I’m glad we went, we certainly needed it after all the stressing out we did before the wedding. Atlantis was beautiful, relaxing and fun!

Wedding planning

Today was all about wedding! I finally dropped my wedding dress off at a cleaners, so that should be done in a week or two. And then I went to meet with my friend who took THESE amazing photos at our wedding in Miami. She gave me a cd with all the pictures on it, and we talked about the wedding in Miami and our upcoming wedding celebration here in Norway. Hopefully she’ll be able to take pictures there as well. We also talked about a little business idea of mine. I can’t say too much about it yet, but after talking to her about it I’m really excited, and I think I might be on to something good!

After that I met up with my amazing hubby and went over to his friends place to talk about the menu for the summer party. He’s an excellent chef, and he wanted to make the food for our party as his wedding gift to us! We’re gonna do a barbeque, and I gotta tell you, the menu is gonna be awesome!

So now me and Tassen are going through the pictures. It’s gonna take a while though, cause there’s like 2000 of them…!
